On the evening of June 20, 1957, a tornado tore through Fargo, North Dakota. Fargo, 1957 chronicles that storm and the people it took, among them two relatives of the poet, born almost thirteen years later. Reissued by NDSU Press in 2021, it remains his best-known book.
